Housing Information

HOUSING INFORMATION

The town map can be seen here.

This page contains information about the different kind of residential buildings are available for characters to live in. Housing situations are separated by neighborhood/location. There is something for everyone: upper class, middle class, lower class living, apartments, townhouses, and dorms. There are mostly houses available in neighborhoods, but there are also houses available scattered throughout the country.

This page also provides a form for anyone who is interested in having their character build their own home. Please complete that form and leave it in a comment below.

All neighborhoods list the average amount of bedrooms in a house. This does not mean that housing is limited to that many characters. You can have as many characters in a single house that you and the other players would feel appropriate. Housing runs on a first come, first serve basis.

Houses can be decorated any way your character wants them to be.

Once you have decided on a neighborhood, please comment to the housing page to officially put your character in a house. Thank you!

PERSONAL HOME

Information

This is specifically for characters who want to build their own home in game. The only location on the map that a home cannot be built is in the National Park. Houses may be built along the edge of Lake Tomie, however, but you must clarify that on the form.

Homes can be any technology level. Personal homes cannot be larger than an average Target or more than three stories high. Any houses that may have advanced outerworld aspects to them must have those materials obtained appropriately through AC rewards.

Form

Please fill out the following form and put the "Personal Home" in the subject line.

BRAHMS

Information

Brahms is located in the south-west most part of Deerington. The neighborhood spreads throughout the most developed part of the entire town and is home to the community college as well as Harren Hospital. Living in Brahms can be fast-paced and loud, but for many people, the convenience of living within walking distance of so many hot spots in town is a huge bonus. This location is the most like a city, and it's clear that Deerington has started to develop in that direction.

The Homes

Blackwood Run Townhouses

Average income of residents: $$$-$$$$
Number of Bedrooms: 2-3
Number of Bathrooms: 1-2. Most commonly 1 full, 1 half.
Number of Floors: Two main floors, one basement.
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, kitchen utilities, washer and dryer, 1-car garage. A very tiny backyard that could maybe fit two chairs.

These are higher end townhouses. They are finished off nicely and are up to date in terms of paint jobs, flooring, and all the utilities that can be found inside. Blackwood Run is a very safe neighborhood that the Authority seems to enjoy lounging around in quite a lot. The townhouses are close enough to the major parts of Brahms to still be within walking distance, but far away enough to have some feeling of coziness, peace, and quiet. These seem to be completely perfect...Ah...Except every now and then you might find random fingerprints on things you know no one has touched recently. But at least nothing's missing!

Houses in Brahms

Average income of residents:$$-$$$
Number of Bedrooms: 3-4. 5 Max.
Number of Bathrooms: 2-3.
Number of Floors: Two main floors, basement, and attic.
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, kitchen utilities, washer and dryer, 1-2 car garage. These houses have a little bit of a front yard, but pretty decent backyards.

These houses are nestled all throughout Brahms, even beyond the ones that you can see on the map. They are often close together. The most common seen styles of these homes are bungalows and Craftsman houses. The houses aren't kept up with too well. Many of them are in desperate need of a new paint job, but there's a few very pretty ones that residents have really fixed up to look nice. Unfortunately, these houses aren't in the safest area and it has been known from time to time for burglaries to happen. You might want to invest in some better locks.

Community College Dorms

Average income of residents: $-$$
Number of Bedrooms: 1 person dorm (includes private bathroom/shower), 2 person dorms, 4 person suites.
Number of Bathrooms: Varies
Number of Floors: Ten
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, communal kitchen and laundry, student parking. No backyard, but students do have an entire, spacious campus.

If you would like your character to live in a suite/room with other character(s), please talk to the appropriate people and clarify it in your housing request. Dorming together works like housing together. The dorms are extremely safe due to college security. Security guards make routine trips around the dorms both during the day and during the night. The Authority also makes sure all academic facilities are patrolled regularly. Students must swipe their Deerington license to get into the dorm building, and all students have a key specifically for their dorm room. The dorm building itself is a unique design and surprisingly modern for an otherwise old fashioned looking town. Looks like some parts of the town really are stepping up their game sooner than others. The one odd thing about the dorms is that the upper floors have occasionally said they've heard strange tapping outside of their windows. Huh. It's probably just the crows.

David Cliff Apartments

Average income of residents: $-$$
Number of Bedrooms: 1-4. Studios available upon request.
Number of Bathrooms: 1-2
Number of Floors: Several
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, kitchen utilities, communal laundry, communal gym, street parking. No yard space at all.

These apartments are old but sturdy. They were built with love. All the apartments have exposed bricks and piping, but it looks very nice with how it's all been done. The hardwood floors are scratched to hell and back, but they seem very durable and in good condition otherwise. Kitchens are a little on the small end, but they get the job done. The heating in the winter can be a little finicky, so it's usually a good idea to layer on the blankets. It's also a good idea to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Sometimes the elevator just...doesn't want to work. It's been known to come to screeching halts and start going the opposite way you wanted it to go. The apartments are very safe. The Authority does patrol near the school, dorms, and in doing so, are close enough to the apartments in passing that they secure them as well.

PROSPERO

Information

Prospero is located in central Deerington. Central Deerington is where many small businesses are, but also many important public services buildings such as the library and public hall. Prospero is overall a very safe location as far as crime goes, but it is a little more prone to supernatural activity. Many of the buildings are very old and have been in the town for quite sometime and it shows. While Prospero residents are very close to stores and activities in town, they don't get the noise and rush that residents of Brahms get. Things are a lot more relaxed and quiet in Propsero.

Prospero Townhomes

Average income of residents: $-$$
Number of Bedrooms: 2-4
Number of Bathrooms: 2-3
Number of Floors: Three narrow floors.
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, washer and dryer, kitchen utilities. Very small backyard. Street parking only.

These townhouses are a little snug, but they are well-loved and worn. They experience a few problems here and there, but at least the landlord is very attentive to any maintenance. They are generally safe, but from time to time are known to house a poltergeist or two. Watch out for those flickering lights and fuzzy TV reception. At least the poltergeists seem harmless. They mostly just seem to be bored. The townhouses are close to a lot of local businesses and you can easily walk to the Hart Mart whenever you run out of food. Not a half bad deal even including the poltergeists.

Prospero Houses

Average income of residents: $$-$$$
Number of Bedrooms: 3-5
Number of Bathrooms: 2-4
Number of Floors: Two floors with a basement.
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, kitchen utilities, washer and dryer, 1-2 car garages, small front yard but decent sized backyard.

These are some beautiful homes in Prospero. Many of them are refined Victorian styled houses. These houses are very old, but have been very well maintained over the years since they are present throughout the heart of Deerington. If people fail to upkeep their homes, it is said that Townspeople will gather around the yard and make 'tsking' noises indefinitely until the house is fixed up. These come in various colors and sizes, and are made of very sturdy material. Not too many repairs, if any at all, need to be made. They're mostly safe....except the occasional low moaning that can be heard through them. Hopefully that's just the wood settling....Right? ...Right?

CLARKE ACRES

Information

Clarke Acres is located throughout the majority of the upper-east portion of Deerington. It sprawls out for miles upon miles. Most of Clarke acres is farmland and ongoing fields, but houses are spotted throughout. None of the houses are sitting right on top of each other, but there are a few that are closer together than others. There are some houses in Clarke Acres that are completely on their own though. Because of its size and open space, Clarke Acres is an ideal location to build new homes. It's completely quiet and calm out in Clarke Acres, but it does take a while to get into town or the other side of Deerington.

The Farm Houses

Average income of residents: $-$$$$
Number of Bedrooms: Varies.
Number of Bathrooms: Varies.
Number of Floors: Usually two with an attic and a basement.
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, all of them have huge yards to the point where you can't always see your closest neighbor- but sometimes you live at least a five minute walk down the road. All houses come with washer and dryer units as well as kitchen utilities. Garages vary from house to house.

There are many different sizes of houses out in the country. There are massive, beautiful, sprawling farmhouses, and then there are tiny little shacks. It is all dependent on the player what they want their character to have. There are generic barns attached to some houses, and other houses have miles of corn field out in the backyard or some other crop like sunflowers. All that is consistent in Clarke Acres is that it's damn peaceful. It's awfully safe from human intrusion being so far out, but being so far out means that they're isolated from a lot of the town and its protections. The night is nice at least. Well except sometimes it sounds like kids are laughing outside when there isn't a kid for miles...And let's just ignore that feeling in the day where it feels like someone is watching you if you're out in your yard. It's probably just a cow..or something.

FLATWOODS POINT

Information

Flatwoods Point is located in the north-west portion of Deerington. Flatwoods is an abnormally quiet, eerie sort of place that is located by the old firehouse. Most of the houses are beautiful, technically speaking, but look as if they could all do with a visit from the Property Brothers. There is a motionless in Flatwoods, the ground completely even and very few trees, but no one seems to know why it's so quiet and still. There doesn't ever even seem to be any wind blowing through Flatwoods. Flatwoods is close enough to the radio station that they can easily see the blinking lights from where they are. The Authority never go out to the Flatwoods, but most other people don't either. So in a weird kind of way, Flatwoods is safe. From regular human burglary anyway.

Flatwood Houses

Average income of residents: $-$$
Number of Bedrooms: 3-5
Number of Bathrooms: 1-3
Number of Floors: Two floors with a basement and attic.
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, washer and dryer, kitchen utilities, 1-2 car garages, and large yards both front and back.

These houses are in sore need of loving. They are on the very outskirts of Deerington up north where no one really seems to want to go. They are mostly behind the abandoned fire house, but some are scattered out by the hotel. They all look abandoned, many of them with overgrown yards and vines crawling over their sides. The insides are functional, but the electricity is shoddy and a lot of the pipes leak. Talk about some serious fixer-uppers. They're the lowest grade living in the entire town, and they are also some of the most unsettling. People have said that they have seen faces staring at them from the corner of the room out of the corner of their eye, but when they look, no one is there. Sometimes footsteps can even be heard throughout the homes. They could probably look like something beautiful if someone ever bothered with them, but well...That's a lot of work. A lot. Because of their state, most Townspeople and others stay away from these homes. This leaves the place a bit of a safe haven for the Wastes. Sometimes the Wastes have been known to squat in some of the empty homes, but they never break into character homes. Even if they can sometimes be found in their yards digging through their trash...

DUNWICH HOLLOW

Information

Dunwich Hollow is probably the most traditional American suburban neighborhood you could ever hope to find. It's located in the south-east heart of Deerington. It's sprawling for several streets, holding dozens upon dozens of homes for the lower to upper middle class. The neighborhood is patrolled fine enough by the Authority, which makes it a decently safe place, but the Authority focus on other areas enough to leave Dunwich Hollow not completely protected. Being so close to the National Park means that Dunwich Hollow is a little more exposed to supernatural creatures, including the Deer of Deerington. It's said that there are some real strange houses in Dunwich, but that's just a rumor.

Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, washer and dryer, kitchen utilities, 1-2 car garages, and large yards both front and back.

This neighborhood, for the most part, looks like your classic cookie-cutter America suburbia. The houses vary very slightly in size, the smallest being ranches, but the standard being Cape Cod styled homes. They are mostly well kept, with a few yards on the sloppy side, but this is your average working close neighborhood. The space between houses is pretty decent, but you still will likely see your neighbor on your way to work. The Betties are known for being notorious visitors to this neighborhood with their fliers for town events and selling various goods like tupperware and cookies. A lot of strange occurrences have been known to happen on different streets in this neighborhood, but it's not an every day thing so it's tough to say with confidence whether or not that's true or just small town speculation. The houses nearest the National Park have been known to see sightings of a few local cryptids. Overall, the neighborhood is safe from people, but as for monsters? The neighborhood is kind of a gateway into the rest of the town from the forest and the mountain. They say there's strength in numbers and Dunwich is clearly the biggest neighborhood in all of Deerington so at least they have that on their side.

MERGO MANOR

Information

Mergo Manor is located almost completely in the exact west of Deerington. This is where the upper class live, whether in the gated community or the luxurious homes sprawling across cleared acres of land. Mergo Manor is very well protected from hired security guards. The Authority rarely make an appearance, but crime doesn't seem to be a particularly large issue for the residents of Mergo Manor. This is where many Betties seem to live if you ask them about their in-game housing.

Cuckoo Hills Gated Community

Average income of residents: $$$-$$$$
Number of Bedrooms: 3-5
Number of Bathrooms: 3-4
Number of Floors: Two floors with a basement and attic.
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, washer and dryer, kitchen utilities, 1-2 car garages, and large yards both front and back.

This is an immaculately kept gated community. The yards are rich green, the foliage perfectly trimmed, the rose bushes thick and full of life, and everywhere you look, each house seems to be in absolutely ideal condition. They are the exact same way inside. The best of the best for Cuckoo citizens. The security into the gated community is top-notch, if not a little creepy. The security booth has the shape of a large man inside of it, but no matter what time of day you look inside, you'll never see any of his features, yet you'll feel him staring at you all the same. So it's a bit uncomfortable having to drive into the community. Visitors must have permission by residents of Cuckoo in order to get through the gate. Sneaking over is pointless since there always seems to be one Authority on call and they'll come over and swat you down. At least you don't really get punished for anything else. But man, it'd be fun to crash one of those pool parties.

Mergo Houses

Average income of residents: $$$-$$$$
Number of Bedrooms: 3-7
Number of Bathrooms: 3-6
Number of Floors: Two floors with a basement and attic.
Utilities/Other included in home: Character beds, washer and dryer, kitchen utilities, 1-2 car garages, and large yards both front and back.

These are the homes that you sometimes just want to drive through a neighborhood of just so you can admire what you'll never have. Each house is different and gorgeously crafted and landscaped. The yards are manicured to perfection. These homes have a much less stale, impersonal, and fake feel to them than the Cuckoo homes, and at least seem to be a bit more inviting at a glance. The Betties routinely visit these homes as well, though only ever to offer important news about town events. The Authority have been known to relax in this part of town almost as much as they do in Blackwood Run. You can find them sprawled out on yards or draped over front porches, looking content as anything to be in the sun. Someone once said that some of the people living in these homes planted a bunch of catnip throughout their yards so that the Authority would be around to keep criminals at bay. Ironically, it has been known that a handful of the people who go to the speakeasy in town live in these very houses. Always makes you wonder who criminals really are in a place.
